Celebrity Vegan Chef Matthew Kenney Opens Fine Dining Restaurant Althea In Chicago
Celebrity vegan chef Matthew Kenney, opened his first Chicago eatery in the Saks Fifth Ave (Michigan Ave location) store this past fall. It is located on the 7th floor across from the mens lounge. Keeney, along with chef Kelsey and the Althea team are making innovative plant based dining to a whole new art form.

Mond - Tues: Closed
Weds - Thurs: 11am - 8pm
Friday - Saturday: 11am - 9pm
Sunday: 11am - 5pm

On our first visit we sampled quite a few different dishes.
We started with the Kimchi Dumplings and the Barbacoa Tacos. For our main entrees we had the Kelp Noodle Cacio E Pepe and the Kung Pao Cauliflower. We were the very first guests to taste the deconstructed Tiramisu and coffee with homemade oat milk.
I have never had a more delicious meal. Althea truly has made the top of the list in my book, for a full meal experience. Not only was the food inspiring, innovative, and full of flavor, the presentation and art form with each dish that was prepared was exquisite. My favorite, were the Kimchi Dumplings. They were savory and heartily satisfying. A unique treat to prep your palate.
There are no words to express how heavenly the Tiramisu was. We had the very first one and many of the staff came over to ask what we thought! They had yet to experience the dessert and wanted feedback for our first bite. I cannot wait to go back, again and again, and try each item on the menu!
Beyond the meal itself, the staff were a kind and compassionate group of individuals, excited to be a part of this new journey. They took the time to answer questions and share their authentic admiration for the eatery and founder. We also had the honor of meeting chef Kelsey, the head of the Chicago Kitchen and were able to personally thank her for such a beautiful meal.
