Spring is almost here and that means spring break + warm tropical destinations.
If you love the sun as much as I do, this guide is for you! Summer follows spring, and there is nothing I want more than to make sure that our oceans are healthy, so that our planet flourishes and thrives.
The health of our oceans is a very important topic, as is sun protection. So we have put together a short list for our favorite reef safe sunscreens, that protect your skin and don't harm our vital reef systems.
So slather on these reef safe sunscreens, lay back and soak up some rays, and when its time to cool down, take a dip and know that no reef was harmed in the making of your beautiful vacation!

Want to know if your sunscreen is reef safe? Check the label and look for these ingredients: oxybenzone, butylparaben, octinoxate and 4-methylbenzylidine camphor. All of which have been shown to cause coral bleaching even at low levels. If you see any of these ingredients in your sunscreen, it is NOT reef safe.
*(side note about reef safety: reefs do best when they are left untouched. please please please, make sure not to stand on reefs or break pieces off to take home.vacations are great teachable moments for young children to learn about the world around them and how they can care for our planet and make a difference no matter their age.)
