Ditch The Sunday Scaries And Take Time On Sunday Night To Restore, Relax, Set Intentions To Prep For The New Week
I was on a phone call with a client awhile back and they mentioned how sad they were that Saturday was almost over and that it was almost Monday again.
I have been my own boss in retail for 10 years now and have worked weekends since about 14 or 15, so I have never looked at weekends as break time, so I found this comment interesting. I have always looked forward to Monday’s because they have been my quiet days, where I get all my back office work done and prep for the week ahead.
Monday’s are a chance to start over or hit the refresh button on goals and to-do lists. They are like a weekly “new years”.
I love to take time on Sunday night and prepare mentally and spiritually for my Monday. I hit a restore yoga class, put on my robe and a face mask and light a candle or too. I take 15 minutes to write down the goals I have for the new week, so that I can work on my work on my calendar blocks and tasks list.
Self care doesn’t have to cost a fortune and there are many things you can do that are free from your own home.
I keep a yoga mat in my bedroom for at home nightly yoga sessions or meditations. Youtube has an abundance of free yoga videos that I love to explore. I have a journal in my night stand that I jot down my goals and dreams and I can strategize how to best arrange my week depending on what goals I am hoping to accomplish. I love using my google calendar to color block my schedule and I also use Twenty Four to keep me organized and on task.
My robe is my favorite self care investment piece, I slip in and settle down. Making DIY masks and beauty products with ingredients I already have in my fridge or pantry, is another way I love to unwind. One of my favorites is a super simple skin brightening mask made from turmeric, honey and water (caution turmeric stains easily). I also love refreshing my face and pores with a little apple cider vinegar and rinse with water!
When I am really on my game I also love to outfit plan for the week. I have a free standing clothing rack I got from Ikea for $9.99 and I love to put together my looks for any events or special meetings I have coming up. It takes the stress out of mornings when I am usually rushing around getting the dogs fed, walked and settled before I leave.
What are some of your favorite ways to take care of your self and plan your week ahead? Are you like me? Do you love Monday’s or dread them? Let me know in the comments below.
