Chicago has so much talent that has yet to fully be appreciated and I am so grateful to be able to meet and work with some of the greatest local designers on so many different platforms.
About 2 months ago, I got to sit down with Katie Farnan, a local Chicago fashion designer behind her namesake brand.
We met for the very first time at one of my favorite neighborhood coffee spots, Backlot Coffee. Our introduction came via another local Chicago fashion designer after a podcast taping for ‘Falling In Love With Failure’. I had heard of Katie and knew of her designs but had yet to meet the face behind the brand. Our first conversation lasted about 2 hours and I felt like it could have gone on for hours. Kindred spirits sharing deep conversation on common experiences.

It’s important to keep dressing in joy even as we sit at home. What we wear has a lot to do with how we feel and perceive ourselves. I’ve been putting on my brightest pieces and wearing items that make me happy because I know that they were made with love from fellow artists. Katie is a transplant to the Chicago area from Atlanta, Ga where she grew her love of fabrics and clothing construction.
