Greetings From Sunny Florida We Celebrated Easter In Sanibel Island Dressed In Small Shops
My family and I have been traveling to Sanibel Island for over 25 years now and every year it is a trip we look forward to for many reasons!
One of our favorite things about Sanibel Island is how quiet and remote it is, you feel as though you’ve been transported to a far away island that is full of community, nature, and delicious food. We’ve been coming here for so long and we’ve seen things change but we’ve also seen so many things remain the same and that is something that is so special. Supporting the small local businesses and establishments while enjoying a sunny and relaxing trip, are are the foundations to a good vacation for me. Add in the shelling, kayaking and swimming and stand up paddle boarding, thrift store shopping, and local vegan food how can you go wrong?
This was our first trip back as a whole family since 2019, obviously we were not able to make our annual trip in the spring of 2020. I drove down with my dog and sister and we made it a really fun experience by stopping in different cities along our journey.
In January, I wrote about making this the year that we committed to supporting our local small businesses across America after such a tough year. My packing experience for this trip was a reflection of just that! I had so much fun putting together looks from some of my favorite local boutiques and designers.
Sanibel is very laid-back, humble and unpretentious. Most of the activities that you would be partaking in are outdoors on the water or hitting up the local farmers market each weekend. So I like to keep it super easy, carefree, and light weight. Linen and cotton dresses are staples on my packing list for the island, along with a great travel hat, sunglasses, and comfortable walking shoes. Because I was driving, I wanted to keep my packing to a minimum. There is not a lot of trunk space in my car for suitcases. Not to mention, I had to pack 4 weeks worth of everything for my dog, and my sister had her belongings as well. We were also not sure if we would be camping out of the car, so I set up the backspace to be sleep-able just in case.

One of my favorite parts about any vacation is definitely the planning and packing! And it is no different for Sanibel island. The only major difference is that once you’re on island time your stresses and worries should fade away, and figuring out what you’re going to wear for the day just really isn’t a big deal. It’s all about the experience. As long as you have your go to staples, great sun protection, and a few swimsuits, you should have no problem having a great time and experiencing all that Sanibel has to offer!
