How To Take Open Toe Heels Into Fall With Fashion Forward Socks From Local Chicago Designer The Order
We were surprised with some beautiful weather this season and I took full advantage of wearing my favorite heels to show off my new socks from local Chicago fashion brand The Order.
I love a cheeky accessory and these socks called to the rebel in me when I saw them. I also love Nicole and her genius, as she designs and creates for her brand. I thought why not rebel a bit this season and wear open toe heels during fall, but make it fashion.
I love a badass look, thus why I love the design aesthetic behind The Order so much. I wanted to create a monochromatic look in homage to her all black curation.
I layered a black bodysuit turtleneck with my favorite black satin slip dress, with my cozy black heels and FTR socks.
Monochromatic looks help level up and sophisticate a cutesy look, like socks and heels.
I am sure I have told this story before but for anyone new around here, I have a special place in my heart for a sock + heel pairing. As a child at the mere age of six I was made fun of by the older “cool” girls for wearing “little girl socks”. You know the white socks with ruffles? They were my favorite, but after that day I never wore them again for fear of being made fun of even more. On first day or fashion design school in San Francisco I met one of my dearest friends Gabriella, and guess what she was wearing! Yes you guessed right, ruffle socks and heels and she made it look so cool, cute and badass at the same time.
What I took away from that moment was that style and trends are opinion based and its all about your confidence in how you wear what you wear. Gabriella rocked the heels and socks look and it taught me that it is up to be to set my own style and trend in my life and not worry what others might say about it.
